Tongue Tie Ligation

At Eaton & Australind Medical Centre, we understand the challenges and concerns that come with tongue tie conditions. Tongue tie (ankyloglossia) is a condition present at birth that restricts the tongue’s range of motion due to a short, tight band of tissue (lingual frenulum) tethering the bottom of the tongue’s tip to the floor of the mouth.

Recognising the potential complications this condition can cause, such as difficulties in breastfeeding, our team is committed to providing comprehensive care and support. Our GP obstetricians are skilled in diagnosing and performing tongue tie ligations using the latest techniques and equipment.

Our approach to tongue tie ligation is patient-centered and holistic, focusing on the individual needs of each patient and their family. We start with a thorough assessment to understand the severity of the condition and its impact on feeding, speech, and general well-being. We believe in educating families about the condition and the procedure, discussing all available options, and ensuring they are fully informed to make the appropriate decisions for their child’s health. Our goal is to alleviate the immediate difficulties associated with tongue tie while considering the long-term well-being and development of the child.
